Bobby Labonte Finishes 24th at Phoenix International Raceway

Track: Phoenix International Raceway
Event: Subway Fresh Fit 500
Date: Sunday, March 3, 2013
Finish: 24th
Start: 33rd

Bobby Labonte is currently 14th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings following the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Today was a learning session for the JTG Daugherty Racing team as Labonte fought an ill-handling car the majority of the race that ended with a green-white-checkered finish and Carl Edwards crowned the victor. Labonte battled his way to 18th the first quarter of the race, but was challenged by his car's wicked handling that forced him to settle for a 24th-place finish at the conclusion.

JTG Daugherty Racing Post Race Quotes:

"The No. 47 GLAD Toyota was pretty unpredictable for the driver today so it was pretty hard to tune," crew chief Brian Burns said. "We were hoping for a little more attrition during the race to capitalize. Bobby did a really good job of trying to hang on to the car considering how tough it was to drive today. We'll move on to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this week. We have a full day of testing on Thursday. We are looking forward to having that opportunity to try some things."

"It seemed like we never really identified anything that made a big difference for some reason this weekend," Bobby Labonte said. "We could not get a handle on it. I don't know if it's the new body style or tires or something like that. In addition, we have not been to a short track to test. We've got this one out of the way. Something just didn't work right for us today. We will study this one over the next couple of weeks to see where we can improve."
