Phoenix Racing and Bobby Labonte Finish 29th at Chicagoland
Chicago, IL (July 10, 2010) -Bobby Labonte and the No. 09 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet finished 29th in Sunday's LIFELOCK.COM 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway.
Labonte, starting his second race for Phoenix Racing, had posted a season best qualifying position and started the race in the 20th position. The team battled a tight car for the majority of the evening, and a lack of early race cautions didn't allow time for major adjustments on pit road. However, the team did make every opportunity under the few cautions that did wave to free up the car.
Labonte, using his veteran skill, was able to stay consistent and stay out of trouble. He brought home a clean race car and a 29th-place finish for Phoenix Racing.
"We just fought some handling," said Labonte. "But, we learned a lot and hopefully we can take that into Indianapolis. We're going to work on that car and hopefully we can be better at Indy."
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has a week off and will return to action on July 25th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 where Labonte will be making his 600th consecutive Sprint Cup start in the No. 09 Phoenix Construction Chevrolet.
