Bobby Labonte Secures 31st Place Finish for TRG Motorsports at Texas Motor Speedway
Ft. Worth, Texas – NASCAR Champion Bobby Labonte put his driving skills to the test at Texas Motor Speedway, but a penalty and a tight racecar prevented him from taking his CBRMotorCars.com-sponsored Chevrolet to Victory Lane in the Dickies 500.
An early race penalty for speeding on pit road put the No. 71 down one lap and, though the car was fast, the team was forced to adjust the car all day to battle extremely tight conditions. Crew Chief Slugger Labbe and the CBR MotorCars crew worked on the car throughout the day and earned a 31st-place finish.
“It was a tough day for us today,” Labonte said. “The car was tight all day, but Slugger and the crew continued to adjust on it to try to make it work. It’s not the finish we were looking for, but I definitely think we learned a lot and got some good information to take to Phoenix.”
TRG Motorsports team owner Kevin Buckler was a little dissatisfied with the results but pleased with the efforts of his team and driver for fighting through a long day in the Lone Star State.
“Obviously we wanted to bring another top-10 finish for CBR MotorCars, but it just wasn’t in the cards for us this week,” Buckler said. “We had a strong weekend though overall with our first successful effort at fielding a 2 car team and we got it done.”
The No. 71 TRG Motorsports team will travel to Phoenix for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, November 15.
