The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitors were able to take to the track on a Friday for the first time in three weeks. The bad news is that they only got to practice for a total of eight minutes.

Rain washed out qualifying for the Pep Boys Auto 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This marks the third consecutive week that qualifying has been rained out, upping the NASCAR record set this season to a total of ten canceled qualifying sessions.

The lineup for the race will be set by the NASCAR rulebook, which utilizes 2008 owner points. Jimmie Johnson earns his third consecutive pole via this method.

Bobby Labonte, the active wins leader at Atlanta with six wins, will start 21st.

Sunday’s race will be televised live on ABC. It will be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Channel 128. Pre-race coverage is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
